Award-winning Thai film composer and sound designer S. Peace Nistades (Sornsanti Nivasanont) started his musical career as a concert pianist performing both in Thailand and other countries in South-east Asia, including Taiwan and Singapore before turning to film music and sound design.
His versatile body of work range from the dark and subtle score for psychological thriller DARK WOODS to the ironic epic/adventure score to the indie film THE BUFFALO SON. Whether working on an orchestral score or a hybrid, synthesized score, he aims to bring a unique and organic sound to every project, giving it a unique soundscape for each story he tells.
Peace recently wrapped up scoring the promotional trailer for a Vietnamese-American film and is starting work on several film projects as well as working with several bands on the side. Among his upcoming projects are the visionary psychological horror film ADELLE directed by Andy Davis which will see worldwide distribution next year and a Norwegian comedy short UP IN SMOKE directed by Hugo Olsen and produced by Maida Hals.
He has received praise for his score for the psychological thriller DARK WOODS, helmed by director Michael Escobedo: "The sparse musical score by S. Peace Nistades is perfect..." The film stars Tracey Coogan, James Russo (The Ninth Gate, Public Enemies), John Muscarnero and Mary Kate Wiles. The film got promoted at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. His score for Jenna Milly's short film A PEACOCK-FEATHERED BLUE which debuted at the Atlanta Film Festival earlier this year also received notice and has since appeared as official selection in various film festivals including the LA Short Film Festival. He also created the dark industrial score for the first episode of Steven Cerritos' unusual and disturbing MR. SERIAL KILLER web series as well as the somewhat ironic epic score for the independent dark comedy THE BUFFALO SON, which he collaborated with FOXYGEN who provided original songs for the film, which premiered in Hollywood in the fall of 2009. Peace’s last project was a score for PHIL COBB'S DINNER FOR FOUR, a comedy drama written and directed by Laurene Williams which saw his first collaboration with singer Jennifer Cook from the Los Angeles-based band UNA.
In 2008, he scored the official trailer of BØRRE, a Norwegian psychological thriller produced by Kim Dillevig Aas and directed by Shahbaz Aynoddin which has since gone on to receive major attention from distribution companies throughout Europe, Canada and Australia being featured in a premiere Norwegian film magazine and is currently in post-production. He has worked on projects in over six countries and has been equally at home with both scores and songs, collaborating with numerous bands on original songs for several his film projects. He was invited by composer Tony Riparetti to work on the film ROAD TO HELL, the sequel to the 1984 cult hit STREETS OF FIRE, where he updated the arrangements for two of the main songs from STREETS OF FIRE. The film is directed by Albert Pyun (The Sword and the Sorcerer, Infection).
Alongside films, Peace also constantly works on albums as composer, performer, arranger and engineer. One of the highlights was a memorial piece for HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, IN MEMORIAM, which was invited to be of the nine pieces featured in the PRAKOMPLENG PRALENG TAWAI Memorial CD Project. He attended the live performance of his piece at the memorial concert of the same name presided over by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. He was also invited to work on the single KAM SARB by the Thai rock band ZEAL, which went on to become a top hit in Thailand. He has collaborated with such artists as Lisbeth Scott (The Chronicles of Narnia, Munich), Karen Han (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Kung Fu Panda) and Grammy Award winning artist Darlene Koldenhoven (Yanni: Live at the Acropolis) on various projects both in films and album work, many of which have aired on Thai National Radio. He works with Grammy Award-nominated producer and engineer Ken Goerres, who has engineered and mixed all of his projects. He and Ken work out of Peace’s music production facility located in Los Angeles, CA.
